The Lord is my Shepherd

I would like to invite you to pray through this Psalm with me. As we do this, I pray that the Shepherd would draw near to you.

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

Lord, I thank you that you are my Shepherd. Thank you that you lead me, you guide me, you tend to me. Thank you that because of this, I lack nothing.

2  He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters.

Lord, you make me lie down. You invite me to rest. You lead me into quietness. Help me to remain in that place of peace with you.

3  he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Thank you that you refresh me. Please renew me and breathe life into my mind, body and soul. Help me to follow you along the right paths that you have for my life. Bring glory to your name as I do this.

4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

When I walk through darkness, I declare that I will not fear. You are with me, my Shepherd, you are with me. Thank you for your comfort.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows
.

Lord, you invite me to feast in the presence of my enemies. Thank you that you prepare what I need and that you provide in abundance. Lord, I receive your anointing. May it overflow into every area of my life.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I believe that your goodness and love will follow me and my family all the days of our lives. Thank you that your goodness and love never fail. Thank you that I can dwell in your house forever.

Lord, you are my Shepherd. I find my rest in you. I will not fear, for you are with me. Amen.
