Standing Firm

'Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.' Ephesians 6:10

A look at the first 9 verses in Ephesians 6 shows Paul delivering some instructions to different groups of people; children, parents, slaves and masters.

In Vs 10, he then addresses everyone (and this includes you and I) and gives a very short and precise command – Be strong!

If we are required to be strong, it then means that there is resistance/challenge/opposition to contend with.

The Bible says that, “If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small”. – Prov. 24:10 NLT

The key question that comes to mind becomes; How do I build strength?

The good news is that God has provided everything that we need to live a fulfilled life here on earth as He will never give you a command that he hasn’t made provisions for or empowered you to be able to fulfil.

The Message Bible (MSG) puts vs 11 & 12 this way;

'So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way.
This is no afternoon athletic contest that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels
.' Eph. 6:12

If we must withstand the attacks of the enemy and thrive in the midst of them, we must develop godly habits, set out by God, that will ensure that our fires never burn out.

It will take a deep commitment, focus and unfailing desire to push through from weakness to strength. Remember that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13)

There is a new level that God is calling us all to but only those who have built spiritual strength and are standing firm, will be able to access this level and in the coming days, we will be looking at some of the tools that our master has set out for us.

In this season of praying and fasting, make up your mind to build up spiritual strength for the journey ahead and your life will never remain the same again.

 “And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong.” Eph. 6:10(MSG)

Remain blessed.
